Treating Pet Skin Conditions

Pets can develop a wide range of chronic and inflammatory skin conditions, including allergies, bacterial and fungal infections, parasite infestations, excessive scratching, hair loss, and other disorders that impact their comfort and quality of life.

At Rancho Village Veterinary Hospital, our veterinarians can diagnose the underlying cause of your pet's skin condition and develop an effective treatment plan. Our goal is to quickly relieve your companion's discomfort and promote long-term skin and coat health, so your furry friend looks and feels their best.

What to Expect at Your Pet’s Appointment

When you bring your pet to Rancho Village Veterinary Hospital for skin, ear, or coat issues, here's what you can expect:

Examination & Diagnosis

Your veterinarian will perform a thorough physical examination, review your pet's medical history, and may recommend diagnostic tests such as skin or ear cytology, skin scrapings, or allergy evaluations to identify the cause of your pet's symptoms.

Treatment Planning

Once a diagnosis has been made, we'll create a treatment plan tailored to your pet's needs. Treatment may include medications, medicated shampoos, allergy management, parasite control, dietary changes, or other therapies designed to relieve symptoms.

Dermatology Specialist Referrals

For advanced care, we may refer you to a Board-Certified Veterinary Dermatologist.

Our veterinarians diagnose and manage many skin, ear, and allergy-related conditions affecting dogs and cats. In cases that require advanced diagnostics, specialized testing, or treatments we do not offer, we may refer your companion to a Board-Certified Veterinary Dermatologist.

If your pet is referred for specialist care, we'll be here to answer your questions, coordinate care with the dermatologist, and help get your beloved companion feeling better as quickly as possible.
